NYC Neighbors Say Goodbye to 30-Year-Old Honda Civic

As they say, everything good thing must come to an end. After a long life of service, Harry Ettling's 1982 Honda Civic is finally being put to rest. We here at Lujack Honda, located at 3700 N Harrison Street Davenport, IA 52806, are privy to the long-lasting dependability that the new 2012 - 2013 Honda lineup offers, but even we were a bit shocked to hear about the incredible life that Ettling's Civic lived. That said, today we'd like to celebrate it with you.

Harry Ettling nicknamed his Honda Civic "Bluey" shortly after buying it in 1982 because of its sky-blue exterior paintjob. And though that original finish has since faded into a rusted brown/gray, his love for it has not. In fact, Bluey might be the only car that we've ever seen a funeral service held for when being sent to the junk yard.

Saying goodbye is so hard, they even had a parade for Bluey in Ettling's neighborhood. The reason why is that the little Honda hatchback has been through quite a bit in its 30 years on the road. It survived three different car accidents in the 80's alone; it was flipped by rioters in 1992; and traveled over 170,000 miles over the years. And while that might not seem like a lot in comparison to other cars, keep in mind that these are city miles we're talking about here.

Of course, the big question on everyone's mind is whether or not Ettling will invest in a new 2012 Honda Civic. For now, his answer is no. He says he needs time to heal after the loss of Bluey. But you can bet that there's another Big H in his future at some point down the road.
