We want to know: Will Honda Build an Accord Convertible?

With the arrival of the 2013 Honda Accord at Lujack Honda so imminent, we thought we'd take a moment to address a rumor that's been circling the web as of late. Which is whether or not Honda plans to build a convertible version of the all-new Accord.

First of all, this idea doesn't surprise us because Honda has actually been known to create different versions of the mid-size Accord. In fact, the Honda Crosstour even started out as a hatchback variant (its original name, after all, was the Accord Crosstour).

Though, just because there is talk of something happening, that doesn't mean it's true. And such, unfortunately, happens to be the case with the Honda Accord convertible at the moment. The editors at Edmunds Inside Line recently contacted Honda regarding whether or not the company had any prototypes of an Accord convertible in the works. A top man from Headquarters reportedly responded sarcastically by saying, "Yes! And the really cool thing about them is that at speeds over 60 mph, the wheels retract and high-efficiency jets pop out."1

While sarcasm is fun, we're a bit bummed to see that Honda isn't planning an Accord convertible at the moment, however we aren't surprised because we would imagine the design, engineering, and production of the 2013 Accord has been very busy. Thought, now that their time has been freed up, we can't help but wonder if we'll start to see their attention shift to a new offshoot model of the Accord.
